OCEAN MASTER DEBUTS NEW 31′ TOURNAMENT CC FOR 2017
Riding the wave of the popular center console design, Ocean Master muscles up a proven winner in its line up.
Ocean Master Marine is pleased to announce significant upgrades to its legendary 31′ center console sport fishing boat. Design changes to the running bottom result in noteworthy improvements in acceleration, top speed and fuel economy. Additionally, a flat deck becomes an option in the 2017 Tournament Model.
Two sets of lifting rails were added, a V pad with its own lifting rails and two inset lifting rails aft. These changes have improved the Ocean Master 31’s maneuverability, generated greater stability and enhanced performance.
“The 31 has always been exceptionally comfortable and stable,” said Mark Hauptner, Ocean Master Marine president and founder. “But the results we’ve achieved far exceed what we had hoped for.”
The 31 cruises at 34 mph and will plane with one of its twin Evinrude® E-TEC® G2™ 300 hp engines tilted out of the water. This is a tremendous safety feature.
Fuel economy of cruising at 30 mph has been recorded at 2.14 mpg, providing an astounding range of 600 miles. Its top speed is 53 mph.
The Ocean Master 31 has always enjoyed a reputation as a dedicated, no-nonsense fishing platform. Customers asked if was possible to remove the raised bow fishing platform to provide a full length, one-level deck. The company now offers this as an option. The result is an increase in unobstructed room, improving on its tournament-winning design.
Like all Ocean Master boats, the 31′ CC is overbuilt for real world conditions. Up to 20 layers of hand-laid fiberglass with vinylester resins combined with massive, full-height, all-fiberglass stringers and a permanently glassed-in inner liner, ensure a robust hull that will stand up to serious offshore conditions for generations.
In production since 1974, the 31’s current design is the result of four decades of continuous improvement based on real-world fishing in the most demanding conditions possible. The boat has proven itself with professional tournament anglers, military, law enforcement, and search-and-rescue agencies worldwide. It is safe to say the Ocean Master 31 has fished every major offshore venue on the globe, from the Florida Gulfstream to the remote island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, where she was in service with the US Navy.
Ocean Master doesn’t believe in gimmicky materials or untested construction methods. It designs and builds its boats with a very simple goal: to get customers to the fish and safely home in the worst conditions imaginable.
