DSC03963Wake Boat Excitement…Sea Ray Style

The premier builder presents a new sport boat powered by Mercury Marine

Sea Ray entered the wake sport boat market with the new SLX-W 230, which is powered by a Mercury Marine V-Drive propulsion system.

The builder said the SLX-W combines wake-shaping capabilities with a deep-vee hull design, joystick piloting capability, a submersible swim step, Dynamic Display and a standard watersports tower.

“This is the ideal boat for active families seeking to maximize their time on the water,” Sea Ray president of sport boats and sport cruisers Brad Anderson said in a statement.

“We started with Sea Ray’s unique dedication to Orchestrated Excellence, then added a thrilling new wake-surfing technology design to achieve the perfect boat for wake sports, coving and cruising. The SLX-W delivers pure enjoyment with nothing sacrificed and we’re calling it Orchestrated Adventure.”

Sea Ray’s deep-V wake-hull design comes standard with Dynamic Running Surface.

Sea Ray’s new SLX-W 230 offers its deep-vee hull, joystick capability, submersible swim step, standard tower, and Mercury Marine power.

Pre-sets for wakeboarding and surfing fill the 2,000 pounds of ballast to the appropriate level and set the underwater gear for the wave. The ballast system is entirely contained within the hull, a sophisticated solution Sea Ray said does not consume valuable storage space.

The company also said the SLX-W 230 offers a fully integrated joystick control that utilizes the engine and thrusters in an effort to make the boat more easily maneuvered.

“During the research phase of this project, customers were very clear about how difficult it was to maneuver traditional tow boats in close quarters, such as around docks or when picking up surfers,” Anderson said. “Working with Mercury Marine, we’re introducing a wake sports boat that makes it easy to dock in any condition and spin on a dime to pick up a fallen surfer more quickly.”

“With its incredible versatility, superior fit and finish, unprecedented wake technology and easy maneuverability — courtesy of Mercury’s joystick piloting technology — the SLX-W fulfills a bold new vision for wake sports capability,” Anderson said. “The wave of the future is here.”

dsc_3982BRUCKMANN DAYSAILER 42′

The art of day sailing

The Bruckmann Daysailer (Canada) enters the design race as a confident daysailer and capable performance yacht. A split personality, she may readily carry upwards of eight individuals for an excursion around the bay, and yet she is equally adept as an overnighter. In either instance she will be a true performer and head turner, as exhibited by her low profile, aggressive sail plan and performance-oriented shoal draft keel. Characterized by a clean deck layout, commodious cockpit, inviting interior, and lightweight glass construction, the Bruckmann Daysailer presents her owner with an extremely versatile sailing yacht, capable of tackling whatever task the day whips up.

EXTERIOR

The weather deck offers a wide, uncluttered working environment for tending to all of the vessel’s needs, even in the most adverse conditions. Only a low profile raised cabin house interrupts the spacious deck forward to accommodate guests below. The aft cockpit offers a secure vantage point from which to observe and adjust all aspects of trim and course heading with all control lines leading to two perfectly located islands athwartship from one another.

The Bruckmann Daysailer features modern rigging and deck hardware components. Manufactures such as Lewmar, Harken and Edson represent the best performance and quality available on the market today and are strategically specified throughout the deck plan. Spars are constructed of economical aluminum with carbon fiber available as an option to achieve the maximum in strength-to-weight performance.

All control lines are lead to the aft cockpit where a single driver can control all aspects of fine-tuning the sails. The main halyard and reefing lines are located on top of the cabin house to port, and can be fitted with an electric winch if requested. A central hydraulic system located at the helm station controls the boom vang and backstay. A 100% roller-furling jib aids the guests in simplifying upwind sailing.

INTERIOR

The interior furthers the smart design features and quality components found on deck. Upon entering the cabin house, the light service galley on port provides guests with such amenities as 12VDC refrigeration, microwave, stainless steel sink and cabinetry for stowing all necessary supplies.

To starboard is a commodious head with sink and storage. Five-inch thick cushions provide comfort for sitting or sleeping while six opening ports and two opening deck hatches allow natural lighting and abundant ventilation. A centerline table is available for interior dining. Forward of the settees are end tables and hanging lockers and the forepeak may be fitted with a V-berth if so desired.

CONSTRUCTION

The E-glass and Core-Cell@ hull and deck are built using the highest quality stitched fabrics and vinyl-ester resins resulting in an extremely durable and light structure. The interior joiner work is comprised primarily of fine, hand-selected, gloss varnished mahogany trim over Formica@ laminated bulkheads and cabinetry, accented by Corian countertops and a traditional teak and holly sole. All hardware is stainless steel.

Elite-Ti Displays

Lowrance®, a world-leading brand in fishing electronics since 1957, announces the addition of a pair of widescreen displays to the Elite Ti standalone series of fishfinder/chartplotters.

The new Lowrance Elite-12 Ti and Elite-9 Ti touchscreen fishfinder/chartplotters include the same features that have generated so much excitement about the Elite-Ti series — but on bigger 12- and 9-inch high-resolution, widescreen displays.

Including premium features like an easy-to-use touchscreen interface, Bluetooth® and wireless connectivity, proven Lowrance navigation technology and high-performance sonar – including CHIRP, Broadband Sounder™ and StructureScan® HD with SideScan and DownScan Imaging™ – the new displays are still available at an affordable price. CHIRP sonar offers improved fish-target separation and screen clarity, while the StructureScan HD sonar imaging system with exclusive Lowrance® DownScan Imaging delivers photo-like images of fish-holding structure on both sides and directly beneath the boat.

For the ultimate in on-the-water navigation, Elite-12 Ti and Elite-9 Ti displays feature a highly accurate, built-in GPS antenna that displays position on a detailed C-MAP Insight map, with more than 3,000 lakes and rivers and detailed coastal contours to 1,000 feet. Optional chart upgrades include Lake Insight HD by C-MAP, C-MAP MAX-N, Navionics HotMaps® Premium, Navionics+ and Fishing Hotspots® PRO.

With integrated wireless connectivity, the Elite-12 Ti and Elite-9 Ti operate directly through the GoFree® Shop for downloads of mapping and software updates. Elite Ti also works seamlessly with the Insight Genesis™ map-creation service, which allows users to make custom, high-resolution contour maps from recorded sonar logs, with bottom-hardness and vegetation overlays, as well as Insight Genesis Social Map community chart sharing.

dsc_3973TWIN DISC REDEFINES MARINE POWER STEERING

Redefining power steering, Twin Disc offers its next-generation E-STEER™. This state-of-the-art control solution connects the helm to hydraulic-powered rudder(s) electronically and delivers a whole new driving experience.

E-STEER provides adaptive resistance through Speed Sensing technology. As the boat’s speed increases, the helm becomes firmer and more agile, similar to the effect in a top-end automobile. When it’s time to throttle back, the wheel is light and highly responsive.

Driving can be tiring when the wheel reacts to every rudder movement, especially in a choppy sea. With E-STEER, the helm is smooth and vibration-free. Holding a steady course is effortless.

The new E-STEER system also adds Dynamic Rudder Control, which constantly—and proportionally—adjusts the range of movement based on the vessel’s speed. This prevents the extreme, unsafe rudder angles and improves steering.

Housed within the helm console, the self-contained E-STEER unit is straightforward to install on new builds or refits. Gone are the days of checking reservoirs, ram seals, fittings and countless yards of hydraulic line—and leaks, that invariably occur in the most inaccessible spots. Instead, wires connect the wheel and DC-powered hydraulic cylinders, providing instant, precise steering control.

For almost 100 years, Twin Disc has made boating safer and more enjoyable. The company manufactures a wide range of innovative transmissions, joystick and electronic controls, and other performance equipment.
