Awlgrip® & Interlux® Presents The Echo Sustainability Program
The Echo Program represents a commitment, as part of the overall parent company Akzo Nobel’s sustainability targets, to be a world leader in environmental issues.
The Echo Program covers everything that Awlgrip and Interlux are doing as yacht coatings manufacturers to reduce the impact on the environment. The program includes reduction targets for VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), average biocidal emissions for antifoulings and waste reduction. In addition, the two paint brands have identified environmental impact ratings of their products. This offers a choice to customers to select products that fit their needs, within the Awlgrip and Interlux product range. Utilizing the scientific expertise in the company, an Environmental Scorecard tool has been developed, that uses a scientifically credible route for assessing and scoring products. The scorecard, unique and only available to Awlgrip and Interlux, assesses the environmental impact of a product across its entire life cycle, from raw material sourcing to waste disposal.
“The Echo Program is not only a commitment of responsibility and transparency, it sets the baseline for us as a company to focus on continuous, environmental improvement of our products. We are not interested in greenwashing. We have a corporate responsibility to our society and better yet, the results will help drive the yacht paint industry in the right direction and with better solutions for our customers and their future,” said Fred Daoust, General Manager of Awlgrip and Interlux North America.
