Captain Ken- Have enjoyed your varied postings on this site, particularly your personal and original writing as in the STAY SALTY story, and especially the many photographs. Here is one we snapped this past January on our way back from fishing in the waters around Bimini. We were in the dock and our mate spotted the crescent moon rising with the planet Venus and we all got our cameras and phones out. Thought this was the best of them. – A.B. –A. Vincenti, San Remo, Italia
(My dear Capt. Ken: I met you and your lovely family some time ago in the town of Deia on Palma de Mallorca. We had a wonderful dinner there and you were most kind with some advice to my husband and myself with a small problem on our boat. We were recently looking on the Internet and discovered your site and the beautiful photos many of your readers were sharing with you. Please accept this one as a memory of our time there and in hopes that one day we may once again share a dinner, some wine, and good stories about our travels. Best regards to you and your family. -A. Vincenti, San Remo, Italy)

A stroll along the beach resulted in this picture. I found it interesting to note all the textures, patterns, and materials present: the weathered and whorled wood; the rusting iron; the rocks; the sand, all being impacted on by nature and all showing different results. Your blog is most attractive for those of us who are into the boating lifestyle and I would assume, many who just happen to find the site. I am sure all these pictures reach across the interest level as well. Your featured image here–the vintage camera–is also quite creative. Thanks for your years of outstanding writing with the magazines and now, for this most informative site.

My friends and I have been following your postings and are really enjoying all the personal photographs that are being sent in. I thought you might find this one interesting: We are regulars in the waters off of Carbon Beach in Malibu and with the wind and surf down a bit, decided to take a break. I snapped off this shot and hope you and everybody else checking in, likes it. –J. ‘Gus’ Medwick, Carbon Beach, Malibu, CA

Choices. Sometimes easier to make than others. Take my dilemma with this situation. Should I surf or swim? For me, either way, I win. Keep up the excellent work here. I am enjoying your postings and look forward to each one. No choice. I will be back. Good onya mate! –K. Morse, Bondi Beach, Australia

AH THE JOYS OF BOATING! Hey gang, just a salty little shout out to all of you from me (center, hands on the wheel, trademark blue-mirrored Revos on) on the way back from trippin’ ‘roun the Abacos aboard a beautiful Vicem 72 with a couple of buddies of mine; that’s John to the right, Michael to the left, with photographer and long time friend Jim Raycroft snapping the shot. Hope all is well with you and yours and thanks so much for checking into the site with an extra nod of appreciation for those sending in their own photos. Great stuff! Keep ’em coming. Fair winds and following seas. -Capt. Ken

Hey Captain Ken! It’s me, Alicia, sending you another bird picture. It’s a Great Egret and it is looking for lizards and insects to eat right out in front of my house. Yuk! But I guess if you are a bird like this one, that kind of food is most likely exactly what it likes. I see it and others almost everyday when I look out my window before going to school. This time, I went out through the garage so I would not scare it away. I hope you like this picture and if I see any other interesting things, I will send it to you. Thanks Captain Ken! -Alicia M., Riviera Beach, FL

Bula! That is how we say ‘hello’, here in Fiji. I recently Googled a key word and your site came up in the search. After looking through some of the posts, I went through those in the Photo Op listing and would like to share this one with you. Sota Tale. See you again. –Selina P., Fiji

To be sure, there’s magic found in many places but none more than that discovered in nature. For all of my life, I have beheld wonderment, been amazed, stood in awe, and had my breath taken away by what I have seen and experienced. The first time I saw a shark come up from the depths and swim around my boat; being caught in a thunderstorm; been out at sea, and out of sight of land; explored coral reefs and sailed under the Southern Cross. I never tire of sunrises, sunsets, the phases of the moon, the change of seasons, and the endless procession of cloud formations that are in constant motion across the skies. I was visiting family when I took this picture. After a brief rainstorm, I stepped outside and saw this double rainbow in the distance. Yet another remarkable moment for my wonderful memories which, here, I am very pleased to be sharing with everyone.–Kyle M., Bundoran, County Donegal, Ireland

This is a great venue for those of us…and anyone just interested…in wishing to add to the already remarkable and different photographs that have been displayed since you put up this category. Being familiar with your work in the magazines as well as all the video projects you have done over the years, we have been following your blog site for some time now and find this particular opportunity most enjoyable. While taking some well-deserved time to visit the South Florida environs during this awful winter, we were walking the docks at the Miami Beach Marina and snapped this picture. We like the way the superstructure, especially the electronics array, of this big yacht is juxtaposed against the blue sky and clouds; technology and nature. Keep up the good work and we look forward to checking in on a regular basis. –Ryan and Emily N., Traverse City, Michigan
