Stunningly beautiful with dramatic lines, CRN’s YALLA is sure to be seen in all the ports of the world.

CRN, the shipbuilder specializing in the construction of steel and aluminum pleasure vessels between 50 and 90 metres in length, is starting the nautical season celebrating the international award won by the 73-metre M/Y Yalla at the Invictus Yachts Trophies.

This contest, organized every year by Luxmedia Group, selects and awards the best yachts built by shipyards from all over the world. The prize-giving ceremony was held on Saturday night, at the end of the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The iconic 73-metre yacht built by CRN won in the ‘Best Exterior Design’ category among megayachts between 50 and 75 metres in length. This award goes to the yacht that has stood out for the design of her exteriors and hull lines.

YALLA impressed the highly-qualified jury for her slender and stylish lines that make her dramatic design one of a kind. She had four decks and was entirely designed and built at the Ancona shipyard in cooperation with Omega Architects, who designed her exterior lines, and with Droulers Architecture, who took care of interior design and décor. This vessel – the first ever built by CRN on a 13-metre long naval platform, is characterized by extremely sleek and sporty lines. All CRN onboard advanced solutions are aimed at enhancing conviviality and social life on board.

Lamberto Tacoli, CRN’s Chairman and CEO, commented on this important acknowledgement as follows: “We are very happy and proud to be starting the new nautical season celebrating such a prestigious award at the ‘Invictus Yachts Trophy’. The YALLA is a distinctive, unique product, thanks to the design by Omega Architects; Frank Laupman and his team, who have pencilled the yacht’s exterior lines, worked side by side with CRN, who was in charge of naval engineering, and with Droulers Architecture, who took care of interior décor and furnishing. We are deeply grateful to all of them and, obviously, to the owner, who gave us the opportunity to build this breathtaking vessel. This important award is spurring CRN to take part in the forthcoming international events with even greater enthusiasm and passion.”

The award won at the Invictus Yachts Trophies adds to CRN’s already stunning prize-record. Indeed, this year the shipbuilder has also been awarded the ‘Judges Commendation’ at the World Superyachts Awards in Amsterdam with the 61-metre M/Y Saramour.

The famed Italian superyacht builder launches the third vessel in its Classic Supreme Series

By Capt. Ken Kreisler

In the world of luxury boat building, the name Benetti carries a certain cache with it that resounds with elegance born of a high level of expertise and pride of craftsmanship. And no wonder. The yard has been in continued service since its founding in 1873 by Lorenzo Benettii, making it one of the oldest builders in the world.

Elegance and strength are both defined by Benetti in this third launching of the Classic Supreme Series of megayachts.

Elegance and strength are both defined by Benetti in this third launching of the Classic Supreme Series of megayachts.

The third Benetti Classic Supreme 132 (Hull# BS003) was launched in February 2013 in a grand ceremony that included all those who were involved in her build and outfitting including the yard’s technicians, workers, and staff. Arcon Yachts also collaborated on the production of this 40-metre yacht, which will be delivered in April 2014. It is the third Benetti Classic Supreme 132 in less than two years; BS003 is part of the Benetti “Class Range”, line of composite displacement yachts from 93 to 145 feet.

The Classic Supreme 132 – BS003 picks up on all the line’s typical features and adds truly unique touches like its “classic-modern” interiors. Ensuring design continuity, the exteriors of this new jewel of Italian style and technology are by Stefano Righini, with interiors by François Zuretti.

Classic Supreme 132 is 131+ft/40.20m long and 26+ft/8.18m wide; it can accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins, plus room for the crew. It is equipped with two MTU 12V2000 M72 (1080 kW)@2.250 rpm motors enabling it to reach maximum speeds of 15.5 knots.

The prestigious company is making news…again.

By Capt. Ken Kreisler

Quite often, something really exciting comes along that immediately lights up our radar here at the Boat & Yacht Report. And one of those is the news that Oceanic Yachts, an exciting new line built by Cantiere Navale di Ostis (Canados) has announced that Hull #1, a 140-footer, has been sold.

history_5-480x360_cThe Rome, Italy based yard, was founded just after WWII and concentrated on building vessels for the Italian navy, coast guard, and harbor masters. By the mid 1950’s, the yard had attracted the attention of a Gulf Emirate royal family member and Canados was in the luxury yacht building business.

Lamination on this project has already been completed along with both superstructure and deck partitions. It is hoped the completion of this first 140′ megayacht will occur early in 2015 in order for her to be shown off during that year’s boat show season.

The Oceanic 140’ features a superstructure entirely made of Kevlar/Aramat, a state-of-the-art material employed in aeronautics. Aramat offers substantial gains in weight and strength. The 140 is powered by triple MTU 16V2000 M94 engines producing 2,600 hp each coupled to Fortjes counter rotating propellers pod drives. Two additional Auxilia electric 120 kW motors allow her to run in diesel-electric configuration at 8.5-knots with a fuel consumption under 50 liters per hour. When being on the run on the three MTU, the 140’ is capable of a cruising speed in the region of 23 knots for a top end speed of 27 knots. The Oceanic 140’, thanks to her diesel-electric propulsion and her “displaning” twin stepped hull with bulbous bow, offers impressive long range capacity with 5,400 Nautical Miles at 8.5 knots.

The interior design of Hull #1 is by award winning Rome-based designer Michela Reverberi. The wheelhouse is located on the main deck, this to provide the entire upper deck as the owner’s private apartment. Along with panoramic views from a high vantage point, this magnificent suite includes a 25 sq. meter en-suite with steam bath, a secluded terrace with Jacuzzi facing forward, plus a private aft outdoor bridge with private dining area and lounges. The fly bridge, equipped with bar, sun-pads and full bathroom, has been cleverly conceived to cater for relaxing days and lively evening parties alike.

We’ll be sure to keep tabs on this project as it continues forward. If anything can be learned from the past, Canados is sure to create quite a stir with this one.

Canados 100 Fly

The exterior of the vessel, which will be 104-feet/31.8-meters in length, designed by yacht designer Carlo Galeazzi, will be equipped with contemporary windows resembling horizontal slats in place of hull portholes or vertical windows. Her interior will incorporate four or five staterooms for guests. All the guest cabins will be situated on the lower deck and will possess a combined capacity to house a maximum of eight to 10 guests.

The superyacht will sport a living space on its foredeck, and ample relaxation and public spaces in its exterior part. Her bow will consist of a social zone fitted with tables, built-in seating facilities and sunpad. Among her various other features are built-in seating arrangements and loungers’ space aft on the flybridge, as well as a large Jacuzzi.

The superyacht will be powered by a pair of strong MTU engines. Her engines are expected to help it operate at a maximum speed of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots.
