Making The Best Better

Mercury Marine® launches Verado® 350 supercharged FourStroke

Mercury Marine, the world leader in commercial and recreational marine propulsion and technology, introduced the Mercury Verado® 350hp outboard engine at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show in Miami, Florida. The Verado 350 is now the most powerful engine in Mercury’s class-leading Verado family of four- and six-cylinder supercharged FourStroke outboards, ranging from 175hp to 350hp.

Imposing power and superb engineering are key factors in Mercury Marine’s newest addition to its outboard lineup: The Verado 350-hp Four Stroke.

“We’re proud to introduce the next evolution of this market-leading outboard series, the innovative and powerful Verado 350,” said John Pfeifer, president of Mercury Marine. “Whether it’s installed in single  or  multiple-engine  configurations,  Verado  350  delivers  everything  performance-minded boaters and anglers demand.”

Built on Mercury’s proven supercharged inline six-cylinder Verado outboard engine, the Verado
350 delivers unsurpassed speed and overall performance without sacrificing durability and cruise fuel economy.

Mercury test results reveal the highly efficient Verado 350, which can operate on 89 octane gas with 91 octane recommended for full performance, provides up to 10 percent greater fuel economy than competitive outboards. That translates into 100 miles or more in additional range per fill-up and hundreds of dollars saved at the pump each year.

The secret to the Verado 350’s unbeatable combination of performance and fuel economy begins with its lightweight, compact design. Weighing just 668 pounds, this engine is 95 pounds lighter than the nearest four-stroke competitor.

Intelligent design enhancements

True to the Verado brand, the new 350 provides class-leading performance. This engine has superior torque across the operating range, creating rocket-like holeshot and faster top-end speed. It also features Mercury’s all-new intelligent design enhancements, leading to a best-in-class driving experience.

The Verado 350 can breathe! The cold- air intake system is designed to capture cool, fresh air from outside the cowl and deliver it directly and efficiently to the supercharger. The larger, straighter airflow path is a more efficient design that creates less turbulence. The unique labyrinth design in the top cowl keeps the powerhead dry.

The Verado 350’s new cold-air intake system is designed to collect cool, fresh air from outside the cowl and deliver it efficiently to the supercharger. Its larger, straighter airflow path was engineered to create less-turbulent airflow. The water-cooled supercharger delivers greater boost by utilizing water from the engine cooling system to provide a cooling jacket around the supercharger components, thereby reducing the work required to compress the air induction and increasing overall durability.

The top cowl’s unique labyrinth design keeps the powerhead dry, while the styled vented flywheel cover allows engine heat to dissipate more easily, improving the overall efficiency and durability of the engine and its components.

Optimized guide plates maximize driver handling at high speeds, providing greater confidence when you’re running hard and fast. Verado’s robust and proven 5.44-inch-diameter gearcase is built to handle offshore seas and to provide extra lift for longer, heavier center-console and walk- around boats. Gears are precision-machined at Mercury Marine to ensure the highest levels of quality and durability.

Mercury’s specially formulated lower-gear lubrication for the Verado 350 reduces lube temperature and increases gearcase efficiency, which translates into more propshaft horsepower and better performance. It also means lower maintenance and longer engine life.

Verado 350 not only is more powerful, it also makes more power. Mercury Marine’s exclusive Idle Charge system adaptively increases engine rpm at low speeds when battery voltage is low. This provides additional current for increased house loads caused by today’s integrated navigation equipment, and ensures that operators always have the power necessary to maintain safe operation.

Verado family assets

Like its Verado siblings, the new 350 is compatible with Mercury’s SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) system, which offers smooth, instantaneous, quiet shifting and ultra-responsive throttle control. Operators also are assured a quiet ride by the inherently balanced inline six-cylinder Verado engine with its Advanced Mid Section (AMS) design, which virtually eliminates vibration in the boat.

SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift provides smooth, instantaneous, predictable and quiet shifting, as well as ultra-responsive throttle control, while true Power Steering (standard on six-cylinder models) delivers precision steering without undesirable steering torque. Mercury “shadow technology” eliminates the hassle of grappling with multiple engine levers when running with triple or quadruple outboards. Shadow mode controls up to four engines with just two levers from as many as two helm stations.

Verado is the easiest four-stroke outboard to maintain on the market today. Verado outboards come standard with Mercury’s exclusive lifetime maintenance-free valve train, which means owners never have to take their engine in for pricey valve-lash adjustments. In addition, the maintenance label under the cowl outlines the maintenance schedule at 100- and 300-hour intervals and provides a QR code that links to additional information about your Verado 350, as well as brief maintenance “How To” videos.

Verado 350 is available with Joystick Piloting for Outboards as well as Skyhook and VesselView. With a simple push or twist of a joystick you can maneuver a boat in virtually any direction – sideways, diagonally or spinning on its axis. You easily can control dual, triple or quad Verado 250hp, 300hp or 350hp outboards, even in challenging wind and current conditions. This system integrates seamlessly with SmartCraft Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) and electro hydraulic power steering, while standard integrated autopilot provides Auto Heading and Waypoint Sequencing. Skyhook, the industry’s leading digital GPS positioning system, holds the boat in position for fishing or waiting for bridges to open. VesselView engine-information systems allow you to make the most of your time on the water.

Every Verado engine comes with Mercury’s class-leading corrosion protection, utilizing low- copper aluminum silicon alloys, and its high-tech paint system, which features irridite metal prep and sealing, electro-deposition paint (EDP) priming and powder-paint top coat. Peace of mind is standard, thanks to Mercury’s industry-exclusive three-year limited corrosion warranty.

Customize your engine

The Verado 350 offers owners the ability to personalize their engines with custom colors, including standard Phantom Black, Cold Fusion White and Warm Fusion White, which will complement almost any boat color.
