Yet another brainstorm here at Idea Central. This concept will be a new posting I call THIS WATERY LIFE and at its core is a slice-of-life look at how we got into doing what we do. Basically, I’m seeking stories from those of us who, as I do, suffer from terminal wanderlust, that irresistible need to travel by boat; have embraced their OCB, otherwise known around the docks as Obsessive Compulsive Boating; or as Melville’s Ishmael lamented, “Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off – then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can.”
I’ve already lined up some very interesting folks with great stories and am interviewing and corresponding even as I key stroke. However, as the blog site continues to grow and attract more and more viewers and participants, I’d like to reach out and ask anybody who feels they have something compelling they would like to share to get in touch.
